Abstract
Who is Zee? Zee is a site of dissonance that helps illustrate how Thai and Western concepts of gender and queerness converge and collide. How Zee is frequently recognized as male but then constantly reiterated as female while embodying a certain gender ambiguity in language and appearance is a product of the slippage between geographically and culturally specific understandings of gender, which unfortunately causes Thai FTMs in both the United States and Thailand to experience isolation and alienation from Thai community, a silence camouflaged by that very ambiguity.
