In this interview, playwright Adriano Shaplin discusses his play Freedom Club (2010), coproduced by the Riot Group and New Paradise Laboratories. He explains how the Abraham Lincoln assassination resonates with contemporary American politics, illuminating themes that run through his play such as rage as a social force and the collision of opposing political ideals. He also describes his writing process and his reliance on discoveries made in the rehearsal room for the composition of his plays.
