Serbian critic and scholar Ivan Medenica considers the work of new theater artists in Serbia after the fall of Slobodan Milošević's regime in 2000. He begins with an appraisal of playwright Biljana Srbljanović, whose early antinationalist work signaled a fomenting political change and ushered in a new generation of theater artists, many of them women, such as Maja Pelevi and Milena Bogavac.
