The A'i or Kofan people of Colombia face seemingly intractable challenges due to the extraction of oil from their lands, the ongoing conflict in Colombia, the infrastructural imperatives of globalization, and the continuing hunger for illicit drugs in cosmopolitan centers. Underlying these outside demands on the Kofan and their devastating effects is a profound contempt for the rule of law by those around the Kofan and an utter lack of respect. Despite this, the Kofan know exactly who they are and the justice of their claims, and they continue to struggle against all odds.
