A Needle in the Desert

Héctor Mediavilla (1970, Barcelona) is a storyteller who uses different audiovisual media to share his questioning of the human being and his identity as a social, cultural, spiritual, and political fact. He is a photographer, director, educator, and manager of participatory photography projects. He has been awarded in international competitions both as a photographer and director. He has created photographic essays in Africa, the Americas, and Europe, which have been published in a range of international media and exhibited internationally, including at the Guggenheim in Bilbao and the French Institute in Kinshasa and Brazzaville. He has also designed and conducted workshops for young African photographers in Africa. He holds a degree in economics and an MBA, and he is currently completing a postgraduate degree on “Photographic Creation and Reflection,” which is expanding his questioning of how reality is visually represented in new territories.
