Of Wind, Soil, and Water: On the Mesology of Sinophone/Xenophone Southeast Asian Literature

DAVID DER-WEI WANG is Edward C. Henderson Professor in Chinse Literature and Comparative Literature at Harvard University. His specialties are modern and contemporary Chinese and Sinophone literature, Late Qing fiction and drama, and comparative literary theory. His recent English publications include A New Literary History of Modern China (editor, 2017) and Why Fiction Matters in Contemporary China (2020). His most recent Chinese publication is Nanyang duben: Wenxue, haiyang, daoyu 南洋讀本：文學,海洋,島嶼 (A Nanyang Reader: Literature, Sea, and Islands, 2022), coedited with Ko Chia-Cian.
