Unraveling Beginnings

Gerald Prince is professor of Romance languages at the University of Pennsylvania. He is the author of several books, including A Dictionary of Narratology, Guide du roman de langue française: 1901 – 1950, and the recently published Guide du roman de languefrançaise: 1951 – 2000. He is now working on the theme of narrative in Proust’s A la recherche du temps perdu.
