julie auger, after 20+ years at Indiana University, is now a full professor at the Université de Montréal. She is a variationist sociolinguist whose research focuses on phonological and grammatical features of colloquial Québec French and Picard. She collaborates with Anne-José Villeneuve to investigate structures shared between French and Picard in order to determine the extent to whether Picard retains a grammatical structure distinct from that of colloquial French. michael d. picone is emeritus professor of linguistics and French at the University of Alabama, where he taught for 32 years after earning his doctorate at the Sorbonne in 1987. His research encompasses neological tendencies in Metropolitan French, contemporary and historical investigations of Louisiana French, contact linguistics in the Gulf South, artistic and lyrical codemixing, and language and visuals, especially in bande dessinée and fumetti.
