cory holland has a Ph.D. in linguistics from the University of California, Davis, and is currently teaching linguistics classes in the TESL/TEFL program and ESL in the Academic English program at Colorado State University. Areas of interest include phonetics, language variation and change, particularly in vowel systems in the American West, second-language acquisition and teaching, and the acquisition of sociophonetic features by learners of a new language and/or dialect. tara brandenburg has a master’s degree in English from Colorado State University and is an ESL instructor. She has presented at various TESOL and TESOL affiliate conferences and was the 2015 recipient of the Best of CoTESOL award.
