Gender and National Literature: Heian Texts in the Constructions of Japanese Modernity
Dennis Washburn is Dartmouth Professor in Japanese Studies at Dartmouth College. His translation of Ooka Shohei's novel, A Wife in Musashino, appeared in 2004. He is currently working on a manuscript tentatively titled Translating Mount Fuji: Autonomy, Authenticity, and the Ethics of Identity.
