I am an Indian woman who immigrated to London, England, with her family at the age of seven and eventually exchanged her Indian passport for a British one. In September 1991 I moved from England to Santa Barbara, California, in the United States. I am now in a relationship with John Foran—we are lifetime sexual companions—and have two children, a daughter (Cerina), who is four years old, and a son (Amal), who is two years old. I did not give birth to either of our children, and John, Cerina, Amal, and I look very different from one another in terms of hair texture and skin color, as well as in sex and height. I have my green card (“Resident Alien Status”) and luxuriate in the explicitly hybrid nature of my life.
