juliet s. kono teaches writing at Leeward Community College in Honolulu, Hawaii. She is the author of Hilo Rains (Bamboo Ridge Press, 1988) and Tsunami Years (Bamboo Ridge Press, 1995). She received an NEA/U.S. Japan Friendship Fellowship to work on her upcoming novel.
