When Jade came asking why the science teacher’s
petals were twitching with anger at her request to
please explain again the reason why so much
dirt is required for potting, I could only say
roots run deep and we must not forget,
the intention of a weed is to grow in the garden,
be a plant in the wrong place with strength of reach
to forage underground and in a short time sink
into the soul, germinate and take control.
When Jade came asking why the teacher explained
again saying the exact same thing, I could only say
the life span of many beautiful flowers is cut short
due to lack of knowledge of botany and because
of the culture to perceive as one has been taught,
not as one has come to know individual beauty
when not measured against stalk, shape, or color,
or degree of light and water...
