We are pleased and honored to present the first issue of the Journal of Korean Studies housed at Columbia University and published by Duke University Press. We would like to thank former editor-in-chief Clark Sorensen, his team at the University of Washington, and the staff at Rowman and Littlefield for their fine stewardship of the journal during a time of unprecedented growth. We also would like to take this opportunity to thank the JKS editorial board and the many colleagues in the field who have generously contributed their time and expertise to the reviewing of articles submitted to JKS.
