ALEXANDER DES FORGES is professor of Chinese and chair of the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at the University of Massachusetts Boston. He is the author of Mediasphere Shanghai: The Aesthetics of Cultural Production (2007) and Testing the Literary: Prose and the Aesthetic in Early Modern China (2021). His current research interests include comparative literary theory and cultural studies in the early modern and modern periods (fifteenth through twentieth centuries).
GRACE S. FONG is professor of Chinese literature at McGill University. Her research focuses on classical Chinese poetry and women's literature of the Ming and Qing periods.
