As dean of Duke University’s Graduate School, Craufurd Goodwin initiated the foundation of a Graduate Liberal Studies program. This essay pays tribute to his contribution to the program as an administrator and teacher over three decades. It describes Goodwin’s thoughts about graduate liberal studies and graduate education.
