Helge Jordheim is a professor of Cultural History at the University of Oslo, Norway, and he has a second professorship in German Studies at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim. In 2015–2016 he was Visiting Professor at New York University. His main areas of research are 18th century cultural and intellectual history, German literature and philosophy, history of concepts, and history and theory of the human sciences. His latest book is Civilizing Emotions. Concepts in Europe and Asia (2015) with Pernau et al.
