Kathleen Davis is Associate Professor of English at the University of Rhode Island. She is the author of Periodization and Sovereignty: How Ideas of Feudalism and Secularization Govern the Politics of Time (2008), and co-editor of Medievalisms in the Postcolonial World: The Idea of “the Middle Ages” Outside Europe (2009) . Currently, she is working on two books, one on the history of secularism, and one on the implications of periodization for the twenty-first century.
