Abstract
This article offers a history of the reception of Thomas Müntzer’s theology in Latin America. In this context, Müntzer has been seen primarily through the lens of his influential Marxist readers, particularly Friedrich Engels and Ernst Bloch. This legacy allows a direct line to be drawn from Müntzer to both liberation theology and the peasant rebellion in Chiapas.
