In these two sets of comparisons, the compositional similarities are obvious. Particularly, the first seated conversational pairs wear nearly identical native dress and have similar speech scrolls and snakes flowing from their open mouths to register speech. The architectural setting and gesture of the second comparison similarly suggests Sahagún's influence on Valadés's imagining.
