Conference on the Mexican War

The University of Texas at Arlington will host a conference titled “The Mexican War” on October 25 and 26, 1996. The conference will be jointly sponsored by the university, the Palo Alto Battlefield site of the National Park Service, and the Descendants of the Veterans of the Mexican War. The purpose of the conference is to recognize the war’s impact on the people who live along both sides of today’s border.

Seven sessions will address major aspects of the war and its social, diplomatic, and regional legacy. The meeting will also provide a behind-the-scenes view of the making of the forthcoming PBS video on the Mexican War, which is being prepared by KERA-TV, Dallas. KERA will teleconference this symposium throughout the region.
