With this issue the Hispanic American Historical Review begins a five-year period at the University of Arizona. Duke University Press continues to publish the journal but the editorial offices are now housed on the Tucson campus.
As new Managing Editor I wish to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to the former editorial staff in Austin for the total cooperation they rendered during the period of transition. Stanley Ross, Richard Graham, Karl Schmitt, Nella Cunningham, Wilber Chaffee and Anne Dibble all responded repeatedly to our signal of distress as we assumed responsibility for joumal activities during the last half of 1975. Without their good will and wise counsel our task would have been infinitely more difficult.
The new editorial staff comprises Ursula Lamb, Associate Editor; George Brubaker and Donna Guy, Book Review Editors; Steven Brown, Editorial Assistant; Susan Deeds, Research Assistant; and Sandra Buchman, Editorial Secretary. It will be our task to implement the Bylaws of the HAHR and the directives of the Board of Editors, to make manuscript determinations, and to serve the readership. We welcome your comments and suggestions.
Having now seen our first issue through the press, we can fully appreciate the five-year effort of our predecessors. I am sure that the readership will wish to join with us in expressing to them our sincere gratitude for having served the profession well and having produced a quality journal of which Latin American historians are justly proud.
