The original Select Bibliography, like its annual supplements, was aimed at college librarians, nonspecialists in international affairs, who needed help in building a collection of English-language books. In this supplement Latin America occupies not quite one-third of the space. Books of first and second priority are indicated, and a summary of two or three sentences follows each title, usually without much critical comment. Needless to say, the choice will not satisfy everyone, but the range is wide. Among its other virtues the bibliography lists reissues of worthy books which had been out of print.
