This book is designed for the general reader rather than for the specialist. The approach is hagiographic, and no new information is presented. The author does use a large part of the already enormous bibliography on Anchieta, but in a disconnected and eclectic fashion. There is no index or even a table of contents to guide the reader through the roughly chronological organization of this slim volume. There are many long and unnecessary quotations and a large dose of often irrelevant poetry. In no way does this book supplant the studies of Celso Vieira, Serafim Leite, or Ruth L. Butler.
