Although an official publication designed to have a semipopular appeal, this is a useful addition to the reference shelf of all students of Mexican affairs. A revised edition of the handbook published in 1960, it contains general background information on geography, history, political organization, and economic and social policy. In Chapter II there is brief discussion of the principal natural resources and population, and the latest statistics are given on activities in each of the important economic sectors. Chapter III covers foreign trade and balance of payments. Chapter IV includes lists of official and private organizations concerned with foreign trade, the names of publications devoted to trade and economic affairs, and an index of Mexican exports.
