Doctor Rubén Pérez Ortiz, Chief of the Bibliographic Department of the important literary research organization the Instituto Caro y Cuervo of Bogotá, is the compiler of this guide to Colombian pseudonyms.

Spanning the past century and a half, and containing the pseudonyms of nine hundred Colombian writers prominent in literary as well as political circles, the work is divided into two parts: the first, which lists the pseudonyms, and which identifies their users; the second, listing the writers and their respective pseudonyms. In most but not all cases, the individual’s dates are given.

Although hardly definitive (as Pérez Ortiz admits), this book will be welcomed by students both of Colombian history and literature as a most significant bio-bibliographical reference tool.
