george reid andrews is UCIS Research Professor of History at the University of Pittsburgh and the author of The Afro-Argentines of Buenos Aires, 1800 – 1900, Blacks and Whites in São Paulo, Brazil, 1888 – 1988, and Afro-Latin America, 1800 – 2000. He is currently working on a history of Afro-Uruguayan social, cultural, and political movements, 1800 – 2000.

alejandro de la fuente is Associate Professor of History at the University of Pittsburgh.
