Feeling Fatigued?: Collectivize and Organize Free

Laurie Fuller’s feminist teaching and learning practices center the use of imagination as a key tool to transform the contemporary conditions of oppression and to engender new ways of being in liberated and accountable societies. A professor of women’s and gender studies at Northeastern Illinois University, Laurie uses anti-racist, queer, and speculative texts in the classroom to cultivate transformative justice. She has published articles in journals such as Radical Pedagogy, Radical Teacher, Frontiers, and the Journal of International Women’s Studies.

Erica R. Meiners is author of several books, including For the Children? Protecting Innocence in a Carceral State (2016), and articles in a range of periodicals, including Meridians, Women’s Studies Quarterly, Harvard Educational Review, and Captive Genders. Her current work includes a coedited anthology, The Long Term: Resisting Life Sentences, Working Towards Freedom (2018), and the coauthored The Feminist and the Sex Offender (2020). Involved in number of queer abolitionist projects, Erica’s day job is as the Bernard J. Brommel Distinguished Research Professor at Northeastern Illinois University, where she is a member of her labor union, University Professionals of Illinois, and she teaches classes in justice studies, education, and gender and sexuality studies.
