Settler-Colonial Elimination and the Dobbs Decision: Relationality, Indigenous Kin-making, and Queer Responsibilities

Jodi A. Byrd is an enrolled citizen of the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma and associate professor of literatures in English at Cornell University. Byrd is the author of The Transit of Empire: Indigenous Critiques of Colonialism (2011) and coeditor of Colonial Racial Capitalism (2022). Their work has appeared most recently in Signs, Social Text, Southern Cultures, and in Joanne Barker's Critically Sovereign: Indigenous Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies (2017) and Moon-Kie Jung and João Helion Costa Vargas's Antiblackness (2021).

Joseph M. Pierce (Cherokee Nation citizen) is associate professor at Stony Brook University and author of Argentine Intimacies: Queer Kinship in an Age of Splendor, 1890–1910 (2019); coeditor of Políticas del amor: Derechos sexuales y escrituras disidentes en el Cono Sur (2018); and coeditor of the 2021 special issue of GLQ, “Queer/Cuir Américas: Translation, Decoloniality, and the Incommensurable.” His work has appeared recently in Cusp, Victorian Studies, Latin American Research Review, and Critical Ethnic Studies. Along with S.J. Norman (Wiradjuri) he is co-curator of the performance series Knowledge of Wounds.
