Benjamin Pickford is maître-assistant (assistant professor) in American literature and culture at the Université de Lausanne, Switzerland. His work focuses on the economic imagination, cultural labor, and poetic theory in nineteenth- and early twentieth-century American literature. His articles have appeared in Nineteenth-Century Literature and the Open Library of Humanities. He sits on the steering committee of the British Association of Nineteenth-Century Americanists.
