ather zia is a political anthropologist, poet, short-fiction writer, and columnist and associate professor in the Department of Anthropology and Gender Studies at the University of Northern Colorado. She is author of Resisting Disappearances: Military Occupation and Women’s Activism in Kashmir (2019) and editor, with Haley Duschinski, Mona Bhan, and Cynthia Mahmood, of Resisting Occupation in Kashmir (2018). She is also founder-editor of Kashmir Lit, cofounder of the Critical Kashmir Studies Collective, and coeditor of Cultural Anthropology.
