The Past Embedded in Everyday Life: The Meseta del Collao as an Illustrative Case

alexandre belmonte is adjunct professor of history of ancient and colonial America at the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (State University of Rio de Janeiro; UERJ). He is also professor in the Post-Graduation Program in History at UERJ and collaborating professor in the Post-Graduation Program in International Relations at UERJ and in the Post-Graduation in Ancient History at Núcleo de Estudos da Antiguidade, UERJ, where he teaches archaeology and ancient history of America. He is also collaborating professor in the Programa de Investigación y Docencia “Relaciones Internacionales, Globalización y Política Exterior” (lato sensu) at the Centro de Estudios Avanzados en Ciencias Sociales of the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, Argentina. His research centers on the material culture of Indigenous peoples who participated in Andean uprisings in the late eighteenth century.
