Optative Places: The Periodical as Site
Christine Marie Woody is a doctoral candidate in the Department of English at the University of Pennsylvania, where she works on issues of authorship, politics, and contemporaneity in the print culture of nineteenth-century Britain. Her dissertation, “Romantic Periodicals and the Invention of the Living Author,” examines how Romantic book reviews and magazines use their unique anonymous and pseudonymous publishing conditions to renegotiate authorship. Her paper on William Morris's serialization of News from Nowhere is forthcoming in Victorian Periodicals Review.
