Lia Purpura is the author of seven collections of poetry, essays, and translations. Her book of essays, On Looking (Sarabande Books, 2006), was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award; other awards include NEA and Fulbright Fellowships, and three Pushcart Prizes. Her work appears most recently in The Paris Review, The New Yorker, The New Republic, and Best American Essays. She is Writer in Residence at Loyola University in Baltimore, Maryland, and on the faculty of the Rainier Writing Workshop.
