Marianne Constable is professor of rhetoric at UC Berkeley where she also holds the Zaffaroni Family Chair in Undergraduate Education. She specializes in legal history and philosophy and has authored numerous publications including Just Silences: The Limits and Possibilities of Modern Law (Princeton University Press, 2004). Her current project is titled “Our Word is Our Bond: How Legal Speech Acts.”
