William H. Sherman is professor of English and director of the Centre for Renaissance & Early Modern Studies at the University of York. His Used Books: Marking Readers in Renaissance England (University of Pennsylvania Press) has just been published in paperback, and he is currently finishing a book on Renaissance libraries for Yale and an edition of Marlowe's The Jew of Malta for Arden.
