Zeynep Gürsel is a PhD Candidate in Anthropology at the University of California, Berkeley. She is currently finishing a dissertation titled “The Image industry: The Work of International News Photographs in the Age of Digital Reproduction,” which draws on two years of fieldwork on the production, distribution, and circulation of journalistic photography against the back-drop of “the most photographed war in history”.
