Shirley J. Yee
shirley j. yee is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Women Studies at the University of Washington. Her most recent publications include Black Women Abolitionists: A Study in Activism, 1828–1860 (University of Tennessee Press, 1992) and “Finding a Place: Mary Ann Shadd Cary and the Dilemmas of Black Migration to Canada, 1850–1870” in Frontiers: A Journal of Women Studies 18.3 (1997). She is currently working on a comparative history of Black, Chinese, and Irish women in New York City, 1860–1930.
