henrietta l. moore is Professor of Social Anthropology and Director of the Gender Institute at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Her recent books include A Passion for Difference: Essays in Anthropology and Gender (Polity P, 1994) and the second edition of Space, Text and Gender:An Anthropological Study of Marakwet of Kenya (Guilford Publishing, 1996).
