Rey Chow received her education in Hong Kong and in the United States. She is an associate professor in the Department of English and Comparative Literature at the University of California, Irvine. Her publications include Woman and Chinese Modernity (U of Minnesota P, 1991), Writing Diaspora (Indiana UP, 1993), and Primitive Passions: Visuality, Sexuality Ethnography, and Contemporary Chinese Cinema (Columbia UP, forthcoming). Some of her writings have appeared in recent issues of Polygraph, Comparative Literature, and diacritics.
