The Silencing of a Voice: Christa Wolf, Cassandra, and the German Unification
Gertrude Postl received her doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Vienna, Austria, and is currently teaching Women's Studies at the State University of New York, Stony Brook, and Philosophy at Dowling College. She is author of a book on women and language: Weibliches Sprechen. Feministische Entwürfe zu Sprache and Geschlecht (Female Speech. Feminist Contributions to Language and Gender, Vienna: Passagen, 1991). Her work focuses on women and language, continental feminist theory, philosophy and literature, and feminist ethics. She also publishes translations from American feminist theory into German.
