Lynne Joyrich is an assistant professor in the Department of English and Comparative Literature at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, where she teaches film and television studies. She has most recently contributed to the anthology Private Screenings: Television and the Female Consumer (ed. Lynn Spigel and Denise Mann, Minneapolis: U of Minnesota P, 1992), and is completing a book on television and gender.
