Jean-Joseph Goux is Lawrence Favrot Professor of Romance Studies at Rice University and Directeur de Programme at the Collège International de Philosophie in Paris. His most recent books include Symbolic Economies: After Marx and Freud (trans. Jennifer Gage, Ithaca: Cornell UP, 1990) and Oedipe philosophe (Paris: Aubier, 1990; forthcoming in translation from Stanford UP).
