Equal to Whom?

Luce Irigaray, psychoanalyst and theorist, is a director of research at the Centre national des recherches scientifiques in Paris. Her recent works include Parler n'est jamais neutre (Paris: Minuit, 1985) and Sexes et parentés (Paris: Minuit, 1987).

Robert Lawrence Mazzolais an assistant professor of French at the University of Connecticut, Stamford. He is a contributor to “Fifty French Women Writers” (Ed. Dorothy Zimmerman and Eva Sartori. Westport, CT: Greenwood, forthcoming 1990) with an essay on Nicole Estienne (Mme Liebault), and is currently working on a translation of Gerard Bucher's La vision et l'énigme: pour une analytique du logos.
