Resumen
La primera sección de este trabajo está dedicada a un análisis de algunos aspectos del sistema Chino de calcular la edad, y la segunda sección ofrece un métoda para las estadísticas de edad de la población china. Una discusión de los errores encontrados en las informaciones sobre edad y los intentos fallidos para corregir dichos errores, en los censos de Malaya realizados antesde 1957, llevan a estimar el valor del método para colectar datos sabre la edad de los chinos en el censo de 1957.
Summary
The first section of this paper is devoted to an analysis of some theoretical aspects of the Chinese system of reckoning ages, and the second section offers a method of collecting the age statistics of a Chinese population: A discussion of the errors found in the age returns and the unsuccessful measures taken to eradicate these errors in the Malayan censuses conducted prior to1957 leads to an appraisal of the method of collecting Chinese age data in the 1957 census.
