Nathaniel Mackey is the author of numerous books and chapbooks of poetry, most recently Double Trio (2021), a boxed set of three new books: Tej Bet, So's Notice, and Nerve Church. His many awards and honors include the National Book Award for Poetry. He and Norman O. Brown became friends in 1979 when he joined the faculty at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he taught for thirty-one years. Since 2010 he has taught at Duke University, where he is the Reynolds Price Distinguished Professor of Creative Writing.
