This chapter contains personal diary-style reflections, as well as advice for others from undergraduate writers whose work is collected in the volume. In brief pieces, various students recount the deep connections they were able to make in Togo, despite reasons for going that seem shallow in retrospect; some provide detailed advice for others interested in making a similar journey; and others offer more ethnographic explorations. The students reflect on how their projects and time in Togo differed from a traditional study abroad program, for better and for worse. They share the importance of respecting cultural norms, building rapport with local people, being humble, and participating in community activities.
