Ralph Snyderman, MD, is Chancellor Emeritus, Duke University, James B. Duke Professor of Medicine, and Director of the Center for Research in Personalized Health Care at the Duke University School of Medicine. Dr. Snyderman’s development as a health policy leader grew during his tenure. Over time he came to understand that conventional clinical care being solely directed to a patient’s disease overlooked their holistic needs. His concepts of approaches to care broadened as he realized that conventional care was wrongly focused. In consultation with leaders in integrative medicine, Dr. Snyderman was instrumental in the creation of the Duke Center for Integrative Medicine.
