In a context of proliferation of actors demanding to make their truths known and respected, the question of decentralization of knowledge has become urgent. This chapter reviews what is meant by the processes of centering and centralizing and their opposites, decentering and decentralizing. While the former refer to the pluralization and diversification of ideas, the latter aim to highlight the extension of knowledge infrastructures—which ultimately sustain those ideas. The chapter shows that this proposal gives continuity to other projects that call, on the one hand, for greater hermeneutic and testimonial justice and, on the other, for greater cultural and socioeconomic justice.
