Crafting against Capitalism: Queer Longings for Witch Futures Available to Purchase

This chapter argues that, at its core, witchcrafting involves an intentional and revolutionary attention to care through pleasure. It is in caring for those made most vulnerable by capitalist exploitation, in reveling in pleasure, and in nourishing relationships that the witch rebels against the alienation of the senses, body, and community under racial capitalism. Taking resistance to capitalist and neoliberal violence as central to radical witchcraft, this chapter aims to envision witchy futures against and beyond capitalism. The authors consider how the erotic, as care and pleasure, is a force for energetic anticapitalist queer witch manifestations. The authors argue that, in practicing witchcraft queerly, radically anticapitalist futures are crafted. The witch or, rather, networks of witches become what is both queer and unruly.
